Asbestos Client FAQs

We know that if you and your family are dealing with a serious diagnosis or injury, you have questions. Below we've outlined some of the frequently asked questions to help you better understand our process. Have a question we have not addressed? Call us now and we'll get you answers right away!

We can't afford to hire an attorney. What are our options?

Our attorneys work on a ‘contingency fee basis' so we only get paid if we successfully settle your claim. If we are unable to get you a settlement, you will owe nothing.

How much out of pocket expenses will I be required to pay?

None. Any out of pocket expenses will be deducted from any compensation you receive. If you don't receive any compensation, you will owe nothing.

Do I have to go to court to file a claim?

No. You always have the final decision about how your case is handled and whether or not your claim goes to court or a trial. In many instances our attorneys can use their extensive experience to negotiate with the responsible party and get you an out of court settlement. However, if you want your day in court, our attorneys have the resources and expertise to take almost any claim to trial.

Is There a Time Limit for Filing a Claim?

Each state has certain laws called statutes of limitation which dictate when you can file a claim, but the range is generally 1 – 6 years depending on each state's laws. Only an experienced attorney can evaluate your claim and help determine how much time you have to file. It is important that you do not wait to file your claim since a delay could bar you from ever doing so.

What if I don't know what or who caused my illness or injury?

The Flint Law Firm Team of attorneys is skilled at helping you obtain all the important information to file your claim. We will do all the necessary research to help with your claim.

My loved one has already passed from his/her illness or injury, can I still file a claim?

Yes. Family members may also qualify for compensation. Even if a loved one has already passed, a spouse, child or representative may still be entitled to pursue a claim.
