Mesothelioma is a statistically rare cancer in the first place; however, there are three types of Mesothelioma with less than 100 cases ever reported in the medical literature: Testicular Mesothelioma, Omental Mesothelioma, Well Differentiated Papillary Mesothelioma. All three of these Mesotheliomas are eligible for financial compensation by claims or lawsuits because they are caused by Asbestos exposure.

Testicular Mesothelioma

Testicular Mesothelioma is an uncommon type of Mesothelioma. It is caused by asbestos fibers entering the lungs or digestive tract and traveling over 12-65 years down through the body to the testicular or omental lining. The DNA of this mesothelial lining is damaged by Asbestos and can cause Testicular Mesothelioma.

Identifying Testicular Mesothelioma

Testicular Mesothelioma is challenging to identify in its initial stages. Most diagnoses of Testicular Mesothelioma are incidental to other complaints. The most common symptom is pain and densities that show up on an MRI or CT scan.

Testicular Mesothelioma Treatments

The treatments for testicular Mesothelioma are surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. There is not much data on the success of treatment because the condition is so rare.

Omental Mesothelioma

Omental Mesothelioma is an uncommon type of Mesothelioma. The Omentum is a connection or biological hallway between the stomach and reproductive organs in the lower abdomen. It is caused by asbestos fibers entering the lungs or digestive tract and traveling over 12-65 years down through the body to the omental lining.

Most diagnoses of Omental Mesothelioma are incidental to other complaints. It is caused by asbestos fibers entering the omental lining and damaging the DNA of the cells.

he Omentum is technically part of the peritoneum and is sometimes classified as Peritoneal Mesothelioma. The most common symptom is lower abdominal pain and densities that show up on an MRI or CT scan.

The treatments for Omental Mesothelioma are surgerychemotherapy, and radiation therapy. There is not much data on the success of treatment because the condition is so rare.

Papillary Mesothelioma

Omental Mesothelioma is an uncommon type of Mesothelioma. The Omentum is a connection or biological hallway between the stomach and reproductive organs in the lower abdomen. It is caused by asbestos fibers entering the lungs or digestive tract and traveling over 12-65 years down through the body to the omental lining.

Well-differentiated papillary Mesothelioma (WDPM), referred to as Papillary Mesothelioma, is a rare subset of Epitheloid Mesothelioma. It is caused by asbestos fibers entering the lungs or digestive tract and traveling through the body, damaging Papillary tissue.

Papillary Mesothelioma is diagnosed in men and women but is more common in women in their reproductive years. Unlike other mesotheliomas, it can have a benign form that is not cancer and can be surgically removed with good long term recovery. However, in other cases, the papillary tumor is malignant and is treated with a combination of chemotherapy and surgical intervention.

It is an ongoing medical question if malignant Papillary Mesothelioma cases are misdiagnosed Epitheliod Mesotheliomas. They could also be a transition disease that develops into another form of Epitheliod Mesothelioma.

Rare Mesothelioma Types FAQs

Are Testicular Cancer And Testicular Mesothelioma The Same Thing?

No.Testicular cancer starts in the testes and is an entirely different disease. Testicular Mesothelioma begins in the mesothelial lining that divides the abdomen from the reproductive space where the testicles are located. It is challenging to treat because it forms from cells from the lining of the scrotal wall. This type of Mesothelioma qualifies for financial compensation.

How Is The Omentum, And How Is It Linked To Mesothelioma?

The Omentum is a curtain of fatty tissue that surrounds our intestines and majors organs like the liver. It is involved in metabolic regulation, but the exact function in the body is not well understood. You can get cancer of the Omentum when Asbestos fibers damage its mesothelial lining. The fibers travel to the Omentum when they are swallowed and pass through the digestive system.

Are All Papillary Mesotheliomas Cancerous?

No, Papillary Mesothelioma is the only type of Mesothelioma that can have either a benign or malignant presentation. If you are diagnosed with Well-Differentiated Papillary Mesothelioma, it is crucial to ask your doctor if you have a benign or cancerous form. There is ongoing research to determine if the benign condition is just an earlier Mesothelioma cancer stage.
