Spindle cell mesothelioma refers to a type of disease called Sarcomatoid mesothelioma. Sarcomatoid mesothelioma accounts for 10-20% of all cases and is the most aggressive, but least common, mesothelioma cell type.
Under a microscope, the cells of sarcomatoid mesothelioma are long and spindle-shaped. They appear similar to other types of cancer, and the symptoms are consistent with other, less serious, illnesses which often results in misdiagnosis.
Due to the nature of the sarcomatoid cancer cells, surgery is often not an option on its own as it is challenging to remove all of the tumor(s) although surgery may be combined with chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments in an effort to extend the life of the patient.
Our firm is experienced and dedicated to precisely that kind of investigation, and we are almost always able to determine the Asbestos exposure even in cases where the source is unknown to the family.
